SOUND PERFORMANCE – ANTEZ (FR)

On Wednesday, October 29 at 8 PM, Klara i Rosa (Petefi Šandora 15) will host Antez, a percussionist and sculptor who explores sound as a material. Through manipulation of sonic textures, frequency ranges, dynamic form, and the unique acoustic qualities of physical objects, he investigates the very substance of sound itself.

"My first inspiration to produce continuous sound with a percussion instrument evolved through the process of exploring the acoustic qualities of performance spaces. I choose various objects and equipment during my travels, adapting this work to be performed/played on a large drum, which serves as an acoustic amplifier."
.
"I develop intimate affinities for materials in vibration. I must assess these vibrations in my body at all levels to coordinate my positions and movements, as well as to adapt my mind for it. Since 2008, I've been using dextracentric circling to bring these vibrations to life. These sounds are often compared to certain sounds produced by synthesizers, but they also reach the magnitude that an orchestra can produce. However, these sounds depend on the quality of the reflections of surrounding surfaces and the volume of the performance space itself.
.
These sounds have unusual sonic textures and avoid traditional percussion registers. They test the limits of our perception, from infra to ultrasound, playing with phase shifts. They delve into the intimacy of matter through micro-vibrations, presenting us with audio saturation characterized by the density of noise. The flow of these sounds evokes both restraint and excess, immersion and timelessness." – Antez
