ABOUT THE COMMON: Dialogue in a Divided Society

On Monday, November 10, at 6 PM, at Klara and Rosa (Petefi Šandora 15), we’ll continue our discussion series “About the Common” with a new panel dedicated to the theme of dialogue.

.

What does dialogue even mean today? In a time of growing polarization, do we truly know how to have a conversation — or are we simply trying to pull the other person into the prism of our own truth? How does bias influence the way our brains work and shape our reactions?

.
Can we train ourselves, day by day, to slow down our minds, recognize our own patterns, and reflect on our actions before we respond? How much do our personal experiences, beliefs, preferences, and prejudices affect our ability to listen to, understand, and truly see someone different from ourselves?

.

Guests: Lidija Andonov, actress, drama therapist, and singer, with extensive experience working with communities and individuals in Serbia and Western Europe, and Mirana Dmitrović, sociologist and journalist at the local portal Magločistač. Moderator: Olga Čegar, MA student in Philosophy and Cultural Policy.

.

The series of public discussions titled “About the Common” aims to encourage education, dialogue, exchange of ideas, listening, and collective reflection. Through this program, we seek to strengthen the sense of community, think critically, and share experiences, ideas, and practices—initiating conversations on various issues and challenges present in our society and city.

.

The program is supported by the Heinrich Böll Foundation from Belgrade.
