Decades of research show that men are significantly less likely to seek help for their mental health—up to 40% less often than women, according to a 2023 U.S. study.
.
At the same time, globally, one in seven adolescents aged 10 to 19 experiences some form of mental health disorder, according to the World Health Organization. And yet, men’s mental health is still rarely talked about.
.
The March edition of the On the Common talk series will focus on recognizing and naming men’s crises, ways of offering support, social pressures and expectations, as well as mechanisms of defense and self-regulation.
.
We will be joined by Ištvan Peto, a psychotherapist from the Association for Integrative Child Psychotherapy; Tanasije Ćakić, an actor representing a younger generation and the author of a monodrama on men’s mental health; and Radomir Belopavlović, a clinical psychologist and PhD candidate at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, where he works as a research associate.
.
The conversation will be moderated by Boris Telečki, a psychotherapist specializing in psychodrama.
.
The event will take place on Friday, March 6 at 6 PM at Klara i Rosa (15 Petefi Šandora Street).
.
The On the Common series aims to educate, spark dialogue, exchange perspectives, listen, and reflect together. Through this program, we seek to strengthen a sense of community, encourage critical thinking, and share experiences, ideas, and practices—opening conversations around the issues and challenges present in our society and city.
