Conversation: Birke Sophia Bickhardt - How Do We Imagine Change?
Starting from the complex socio-political situation Serbian society finds itself in today, we invite you to join us for a collective reflection and learning process inspired by European social and political experiences together with our guest from Berlin, Birke Sophia Bickhardt, who is currently staying at Klara i Rosa as part of a ten-day job shadowing exchange program.
The conversation will take place on Monday, May 25, at 6 PM at Klara i Rosa. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided, so participants who do not speak English will be able to take part equally.
The democratic turning point of 1989 was a historic moment that left profound consequences across Europe. The transformations in Eastern Europe triggered changes in the West and accelerated European integration, shaped by market-driven neoliberal policies. What kinds of transformations are we facing today? What role did women play in 1989, and what can we learn from their experiences today? What kind of Europe do we want now and in the future?
Birke Sophia Bickhardt is a sociologist from Berlin and the director of Weltgewandt Institute for Intercultural Civic Education. Since 2004, she has worked as a lecturer, author, trainer, and project coordinator, collaborating with numerous organizations and institutions, including Arbeit und Leben e.V., socio-cultural centers in Berlin, the Berlin State Agency for Civic Education, the Federal Agency for Civic Education, as well as various European educational programs (PLL, Erasmus+).
