Filmoskopija – Decentralized Criticism
In September, the Filmoskopija editorial team is launching a new project titled 'Filmoskopija – Decentralized Criticism,' aimed at fostering critical thinking among young people, promoting film culture and Serbian cinema, decentralizing film offerings, and introducing young individuals to cinematic works that stimulate dialogue on acute issues in our society.
The project entails the publication of the book 'Filmoskopija – Selected Texts on Contemporary Serbian Cinema 2010-2023' and a critical tour to five cities in Serbia. It will commence with a film criticism workshop for high school students in Subotica, followed by visits to Požega, Niš, Kragujevac, and Zrenjanin in the coming months.
On Friday, September 22nd, starting at 7 PM, there will be a brief presentation of the editorial team's previous work at the Klara and Rosa Association in Subotica. Following that, there will be a free screening of the film 'The Load' directed by Ognjen Glavonić (2018).
On Saturday, September 23rd, the members of the editorial team, Katarina Koljević and Dejan Prćić, will conduct a film criticism workshop where local high school students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of film criticism and write about the film 'Teret.' All interested high school students can apply for the workshop by sending an email to filmoskopija@fcs.rs.
The book 'Filmoskopija: Selected Texts on Contemporary Serbian Cinema 2010-2023,' which will soon be released, features 32 texts on contemporary Serbian cinema previously published on Filmoskopija and edited for this anthology. The texts were selected and edited by Nikola Radić, with the assistance of Dejan Prćić, and the publisher is R&F from Subotica, in collaboration with the Serbian Film Center.
The project 'Filmoskopija – Decentralized Criticism' is organized by the Arts Agency R&F in Subotica with the support of the Swiss Government, as part of the 'Culture for Democracy' project implemented by the Harte Fact Fund. Established in 2019 with the aim of fostering critical thinking among young people, the Filmoskopija portal operates under the patronage of the Serbian Film Center in collaboration with NFC Filmart.
