COURTYARD GALLERY: "FOREIGN BODY - inside the archive image"

We invite you to the exhibition "FOREIGN BODY - inside the archive image", which will open on Thursday, June 18 at 6 pm at Courtyard gallery (Korzo 1, Subotica)

The exhibition was realized by students of the Faculty of Media and Communication in Belgrade under the mentorship of Aleksandrija Ajduković, professor of documentary photography and conceptual photography at the FMC, and Ksenija Kovačević, a visual artist from Subotica.

The students are Dunja Anđelković, Isidora Majstorović, Kristina Tomić, Loti Milošević, Nikolija Radović and Vladimir Ferenc Péter..

The works are the result of photographic research, a colorization workshop and interventions on archival photographs. They were created in the subgenre known as Found Photography. The intervention appears as a kind of foreign body inside the archival image. It does not seek to restore a lost meaning, but rather creates a new affective layer that negotiates with the punctum of photography. If, according to Barthes, the punctum is what unexpectedly touches us about the image, then the intervention in these works can be interpreted as an attempt to respond to this touch – to establish a reciprocal relationship with the image, rather than the passive position of the observer - Aleksandrija Ajduković
