Call for Participation: Peace in Progress / Creating a Shared Archive of Memories

We invite all residents of Subotica, as well as those who share a special connection with the city, to take part in Peace in Progress, a participatory art project exploring everyday forms of coexistence, community, and mutual understanding in our city. The project is organized by Klara i Rosa in collaboration with Greek artist Ioanna Neophytou, with the aim of creating a shared archive that documents the experiences of people who live in and share the space of Subotica. Through stories, memories, photographs, objects, places, and personal experiences, we hope to record those small, often unnoticed moments that reveal how different cultures, languages, and traditions come together to shape everyday life in the city. Subotica is a place of encounter. Its rich multicultural character is reflected not only in its history and institutions, but also in the everyday relationships between people. For this reason, Peace in Progress is not seeking major historical events, but rather personal stories and experiences that show what living together looks like in practice.

How can you participate?

The first step is to complete a short questionnaire - HERE

After that, interested participants will have the opportunity to take part in conversations, meetings, and workshops organized throughout the project. The materials and stories collected through this process will become part of a public archive, which will be presented at the end of the project through an exhibition and public event.

About the Artist:

Ioanna Neophytou is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and researcher born in 1986 in Limassol, Cyprus. She currently lives and works in Athens, Greece. She is an academic associate at the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as at the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Ioannina.

Her artistic practice and research focus on conflict and the ways it is represented through images, narratives, and collective memory. Through documentary film, video installations, performance, sculpture, and other media, she explores themes of geopolitics, ideology, national identity, history, and contemporary conflicts.

Participatory art practices and alternative approaches to education play a central role in her work. Over the years, she has developed numerous projects that involve communities, professionals from various fields, and citizens directly in the creative process. Her work examines the importance of participation, collectivity, and collaborative action, seeking to bring art back into public space and everyday life.

We invite you to contribute your experiences, stories, and memories to help create this unique archive of shared life in Subotica.
