Literature Returns to Subotica: Milica Stojanović – Bread and Cigarettes

On Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m., at Klara i Rosa (Petefi Šandora 15), we continue the series “Literature Returns to Subotica.” This time, our guest is Milica Stojanović, who will present her first poetry collection titled Bread and Cigarettes!

Milica Stojanović (born in 1983 in Niš) is a sign language interpreter who expresses herself through drama, screenwriting, poetry, prose, and essays. She is a member of the Association of Dramatic Writers of Serbia and the author of the plays Nacija degeneracija (2016) and Dobri moj (2021), as well as the feature film screenplay Šuplji ljudi (2023). Her essays and poems have been published in numerous journals and anthologies, and her poetry has also been translated into Romani. Milica also collaborates with comic artists on creating adult coloring books and has received an award for best satirical illustration at the Valjevo Comic Fest. Her first poetry collection, Bread and Cigarettes! (published by Neos), was recently released.

She describes herself as “a phenomenal writer because she writes about phenomena.” Milica lives and works in Belgrade, and during her visit to Subotica, she will share a glimpse into her rich literary and creative world..
